Student performance is related to medication schedules Behavioral data can often provide insight into how a psychotropic medication is working. If medication is provided on a very specific schedule (as it usually is) and inappropriate behaviors tend to follow that schedule as well, it could be that a conversation with the physician and parent is in order. After administration, there is finite a time frame in which a medication will work. Potential Remedy Perhaps the schedule when medication is given needs to be altered slightly in order to ensure that the desired effects are evidenced when they need to be evidenced. The teacher, with data in hand, may begin the discussion about the medication schedule if a link is noted between student performance and the medication schedule. |
