A job coach is an entry level human service worker usually employed by an employment vendor to provide support to a supported employee.  The amount of time the job coach spends providingjanitor_polishing_md_clr.gif support should be dependent upon the amount of support the supported employee needs.  Good job coaches will be trained to assess the employment setting to determine what kinds of natural support are being provided by coworkers in the employment setting.  The supports provided will then only supplement what is already being provided by indigenous workers.

The types of support a job coach might provide include finding jobs, assistance with placement, and mostly job maintenance.  Job  maintenance includes providing skill training, acting as a liaison between the worker and the employer, assisting with transportation, and at times, actual work task completion.
