Instruction is the use of formal techniques to impart knowledge (not necessarily by an overweight guy in a blue shirt), typically provided in schools (e.g., general education classes, academic instruction tutoring arrangements, etc.).  However, there may be other instructional activities that could be provided by other entities or in other locations (e.g., adult basic education, 2+2 programming, post-secondary schools).
